Aurora TMS: Driver Mobile App Case Study
Reforming Fleet Communication with a Unified Mobile Solution
How Aurora TMS Gave Every Driver a Real-Time Digital Experience.
Company Overview
Aurora TMS is a forward-thinking transportation management provider dedicated to optimizing fleet operations and logistics efficiency. By leveraging modern technology, the company aims to bridge the operational gap between dispatch teams and drivers on the road, ensuring timely deliveries and smooth supply chain visibility.
Introduction
Prior to this project, Aurora TMS relied on a fragmented, manual ecosystem to manage fleet communication. Drivers and dispatchers frequently coordinated through phone calls, paper logs, and radio check-ins. This multi-tool, multi-device workflow caused communication delays, created administrative bottlenecks, and limited real-time visibility into fleet activity. Aurora TMS needed a unified, digital solution to replace these legacy processes, reduce human error, and provide a single source of truth for on-the-road operations.

Solution
Pravaah designed and developed a comprehensive, cross-platform driver mobile application built on the Flutter framework. This technical approach enabled simultaneous deployment across iOS and Android from a single codebase. Engineered to plug directly into Aurora TMS’s existing JSON-based backend, the app replaces manual tasks with a real-time digital workflow.
Key features consolidated into the single-app interface include:
Personalized Dashboards: Secure login access giving drivers a customized view of assigned shipments, complete with detailed statuses, delivery addresses, and special handling instructions.
Real-Time Status Updates: The ability for drivers to update shipment progress instantly on the go.
Integrated Turn-by-Turn Navigation: Embedded Google Maps routing to guide drivers easily to their destinations.
Availability Broadcasting: A feature allowing drivers to transmit their current availability status back to dispatch instantly.
Advanced Trailer Controls: Integrated functionality to manage physical trailer features, such as locking mechanisms and temperature monitoring.

Action
Pravaah’s development team executed the project using an Agile, sprint-based delivery model. Rather than building a single monolithic software package, the project was broken down into focused, two-week sprints aligned to functional modules. This allowed Aurora TMS to review working software incrementally, provide early feedback, and reprioritize features in real time without impacting the launch date. Daily standups and sprint reviews ensured tight alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
The development execution followed these key phases:
Sprint Planning & Architecture Setup: Establishing the Flutter project foundation and building the API integration layer to connect with the existing backend.
Core Module Development: Coding the crucial data foundations, including Driver Login, Shipment Lists, and Shipment Details.
Operational Feature Layering: Integrating the Shipment Update engine, My Status features, and Trailer Control functionality alongside continuous testing against live backend data.
Navigation Integration: Implementing the Map and Route Navigation modules utilizing Google Maps APIs.
QA & Platform Builds: Conducting parallel testing across various Android and iOS devices, ensuring each sprint concluded with a demo-ready build.
Store Submission: Preparing, building, and submitting the final applications to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store while managing platform-specific compliance.
Project Timeline
The total project duration spanned 8 weeks, from the initial kickoff to the dual app store submission and launch.
Weeks 1–2 (Sprint 1)
Project kickoff, architecture setup, API integration layer, and core data authentication.
Weeks 3–4 (Sprint 2)
Core module development
Weeks 5–6 (Sprint 3)
Operational features and Google Maps integration.
Weeks 7–8 (Sprint 4)
Cross-platform QA testing, device optimization, and final App Store/Play Store submission.

Results
The mobile application successfully launched on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, establishing Aurora TMS’s first unified, real-time digital channel between dispatch teams and drivers.
Based on industry benchmarks for modern TMS adoptions, the deployment is projected to drive the following operational improvements:
Optimized Routing: Up to a ~15-20% reduction in driver miles and route times due to integrated, real-time navigation.
Reduced Dispatch Overhead: A meaningful drop in dispatcher phone and radio volume as a result of instant digital load updates and automated proof-of-delivery.
Enhanced Operational Efficiency: Faster, more accurate shipment visibility that eliminates manual data re-entry and significantly reduces human error.
Improved Service Reliability: Heightened on-time delivery performance and stronger customer communication powered by real-time fleet tracking.
